Jan 15, Jessica rated it did not like it Oh boy, oh boy. My first real paranormal romance -- not YA, not vampire hunting with a side of relationship, but an honest-to-goodness real-live romance novel. I read it on the way to Chicago. Ah, the eternal question: where the [insert expletive of choice:] are the editors? I spend a lot of time wondering this.

She is known for her take on the paranormal, contemporary and the supernatural and the humorous take she often writes in these books. Sands has written historical as well as paranormal focused novels. She has written for three publishing houses in total, Dorchester, HarperCollin, and Kensington. The majority are romantic comedies. She has placed three times in the awards for the Reviewers International Organization and placed three times in the bracket for the Awards For Excellence.
Sands has won one P. She won the P. Sands is perhaps best known for writing the Argeneau series, which focus in on a modern family of blood sucking vampires and different characters within. Lynsay Sands was raised in Southern Ontario, Canada. Sands sent a manuscript to Harlequin Enterprises before college, getting a response that requested a rewrite in addition to anything else she had composed.
Sands took this as a rejection and went to the University of Windsor full time while also working full time. She published her first novel in , The Deed. There are twenty books in the series that feature different members of the Argeneaus as they find romance, search for their life mates, and deal with hunters who want them dead. The first story in the series follows Lissiana Argeneau, a member of the family that has an interesting psychological phenomenon in that she faints whenever she sees blood.
One night her mother brings home a handsome man and ties him to her bed as a birthday present. The present is not only a snack for her, but also potentially a life-saver: he is a psychologist whose name is Greg Hewitt and he might be able to cure her of her fainting ability. You see, Lissiana is a vampire of the Argeneau clan that has a very inconvenient habit of fainting whenever she sees blood.
This is more than a little bit of a handicap for someone of her kind. Lissiana has also been searching for her life mate for centuries, so this is more than just an opportunity for her to have a feeding frenzy. Lissiana might just be able to get over her circumstance as well as find a partner for life in this little gift from her mother.
This way she can feed off blood bags instead of having to rely on humans dropping into her lap. Lissiana as well is starting to experience feelings for the unusual doctor.
If he cannot be wiped of his memory then he stands to be a potential threat to exposing their way of life. As Lissiana grows more enamored of the doctor who is helping her, their relationship deepens, and Lissiana shows Greg the secrets of the vampire world. Will they be together forever, or just for the moment? This is not the first time that Pudge has gotten Etienne badly enough for him to wind up in the morgue looking dead. But Rachel foils his plot by shielding Etienne upon discovering he is still alive.
Pudge attempts to get her with an axe and succeeds. So Etienne must save her by turning her into a vampire, naturally. Then he brings her home to meet the Argeneaus. Now Etienne must hope that he falls in love with Rachel. Vampires can only turn one human in their life time, and they must hope they fall in love and are life mates because otherwise they have missed the boat.
Pudge is still out there trying to hunt them down as well. Meanwhile, Rachel must control her teeth and learn how to adapt into the family. Will Rachel and Etienne be able to fall in love, and will they survive the murderous Pudge? Love Bites is full of paranormal jokes and light hearted, self aware comedy that has made it a best seller and beloved among fans.

This title could, of course, change. In fact, it probably will. They seem to like to give all my Argeneau books Bite titles at Avon. I had great fun with this story. The story idea itself came about because I received several e-mails from older readers complaining that all the heroines were younger. I thought to myself, hmmmm…. Why not have an older heroine?
